Will Marvel’s ‘Eternals’ Get a Disney + Version?
Grief struck in 2019 when Marvel Cinematic Universe fans watched Avengers: Endgame. Iron Man’s conclusion made viewers cry, while Captain America’s bittersweet moment gave them hope. Now, Eternals is almost upon us, and fans are excited to see Phase Four of the MCU move forward.
The 2021 film premieres had hybrid releases, with most Disney films following the pattern. The pandemic has hit the film industry like a wrecking ball, so fans are wondering if Eternals will be released on Disney +. Could the new Marvel movie have a release day and date?
Marvel Studios released a new ‘Eternals’ trailer
A teaser for the film was released in May 2021. In August, Marvel Studios released a second, more detailed trailer for Eternals. It emphasizes the storyline and signature effects of Marvel.
The plot addresses the aftermath of Thanos’ destruction five years ago, “But the people of this planet brought everyone back in a snap,” Ajak recalls. It reveals that the sudden rejuvenation of humanity has brought the energy for “emergence”.
The Celestials created the Eternals 7,000 years ago to protect humans from their evil counterparts, the Deviants.
The trailer includes the question of why the Eternals weren’t involved in the fight against Thanos. Sersi admits that they were told not to interfere with anything unless the Deviants were involved.
While the film has a dramatic script, it includes its share of comedic moments and a solid cast – Angelina Jolie, Kumail Nanjiani, Richard Madden, and Gemma Chan star in some of the lead roles.
‘Eternals’ could get a Disney + release
Eternals has only been confirmed for theatrical release in November 2021. Hollywood producers and executives have expressed a preference for theatrical releases over the first hybrid or direct streaming.
However, the cinematic landscape has fluctuated; day and date releases for Disney movies have become the norm, as Black Widow and Cruel. In July, Disney promoted Jungle cruise through his major theatrical debut at Disneyland Theme Park. Nonetheless, the film was still released on Disney + Premier Access and quickly got early digital release on all other platforms.
According to an interview with Variety, MCU producer Kevin Feige has said he would prefer a theatrical release. However, he concluded, “We’ll see where we go with this.”
Some audiences prefer to watch new movies from home due to lingering concerns about the delta variant of the coronavirus (COVID-19). But even before the problem got worse over the summer, Disney provided its viewers with home streaming options.
Therefore, a hybrid version may not be excluded. For now, Eternals will hit theaters on November 5, 2021.
‘Black Widow’ lawsuit could prevent ‘Eternals’ from streaming
News of Scarlett Johansson’s legal battle with Disney hasn’t died out. The Black Widow The star is fighting against the hybrid release of his film by Disney on Disney + and in theaters. She claims the company promised an exclusive theatrical premiere but took advantage of its streaming platform.
The war between the actor and the studio continues, as a Disney representative reportedly called Johansson’s trial “callous” and “contempt” for the pandemic.
Nevertheless, the Marriage story the actor goes ahead with his trial.
Johansson’s actions had a huge impact on Hollywood as celebrities and social media users expressed their support. From this issue, Disney could try to avoid a hybrid version soon. For example, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings won’t be available on Disney + until 45 days after its initial release.
